Two Months Home!!!

Today marks two months since we stepped off the airplane from Korea and welcomed Jae-min home!!! The time has gone by in a flash, unlike when it dragged on and on as we waited. Jae-min is doing well and has changed dramatically in two months. His motor improves daily and it makes me sad to think that if he had received alittle extra help in Korea he wouldn't have to work so hard now. Oh well, the improvements in two months are amazing. He loves a game of peekaboo and claps now in response to Yay. He's very interactive with us and appears to continue to strengthen that attachment every day.
Nightime can be still hit or miss and you just never know what will happen when you place that little cutie into his crib. Sometimes it saddens us when he wakes screaming with his eyes closed. We just think he must still work through some stuff at night. Some nights are great and we don't see his smiling face till morning. You just never know!!!
We still keep all that attachment stuff in the back of our minds constantly which is a bit overwhelming at times. Sometimes we just wish we didn't have to always think about how situations could affect him, but we do, and we know a true attachment will take years to form. We'll continue to look for his cues and clues as to what he needs.
The last two months have been a whirlwind. It has been a HUGE adjustment and some days are still really really hard. We keep telling ourselves that we only have an 8 week old baby at home, as that's what he is to us. So keep us in your thoughts that we're doing little Jae-min proud and that we're being the best parents for him we can be. I'm sure all first time parents feel overwhelmed at times but also feel that pure joy when he lights up with happiness.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

There have been years when this day would come and go with much sorrow. We are fortunate to have both of our mother's to celebrate this day with, but something was always missing. There was always a hole in my heart as we celebrated mother's day.....until this year. This year I got to celebrate with my little (and big) man and it was what I had been dreaming of for so long. I awoke this morning to little whispers and scurrying around and the next thing I knew Jae-min and Joe were on the bed and my little man was holding a card and gift box...so cute. They all went to get breakfast so that I could take a quiet shower Yahoo and then we went to church. We took a walk just the three of us before visiting family for the afternoon. I couldn't have dreamt up a better day. It was definately worth the looooooooooong wait and many mother's days with that sinking feeling in my heart. That feeling is no more.
Today was a wonderful day. After some stressful and overwhelming days since bringing Jae-min home and all the stress before, it was nice to have a day like this. A day to celebrate all mothers. Today I took time to remember the pain of those mothers days past and to reflect on those feelings. And to take a moment of thanks for all I do have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Family Day At The Zoo

This past weekend we spent the day at the local zoo as our agency had a family day. We got to meet up with other families who have adopted kids from everywhere and see all the animals. Jae-min enjoyed seeing the zoo perched on Daddy's back in his carrier!!! Despite the heat, it was a fun day.

Mini Me and Mama's Boy

Well, the first picture speaks for itself. It's uncanny when you dress the two of them up alike just how similar they look!!!!!!!!!!! Haha
Jae-min has gotten so interactive lately its amazing. He makes great eye contact and oohs at me and when I "talk" back he giggles. He's still loving his books and gets excited when I bring out his favorites.
He's working hard on his motor still and can now rotate from sit into hands and knees. Then he crawls backwards which makes for a very frustrated baby as his toys keep getting further and further away. It's a totally normal part of development and I continue to work tirelessly with him throughout the day to get it!!!! It's coming. He now rotates to me and tries to climb onto my lap......very cute. He's still a bit of a cling on and his favorite place is to be in our arms.
Barney is also a favorite and when I sing that annoying song he lights up and squels!!!!!!!!!!!! I've become a lover of the big purple dinosaur too!!! If it makes my boy happy, it makes this mamma happy.
We're looking forward to a warm and fun weekend!!

One Month Home.....

and Happy Easter!!!! Yesterday we celebrated Easter with little Jae-min. The bunny was very good to him and he enjoyed the day with family.
Yesterday also marked one month home from Korea. Jae-min wasn't feeling well this weekend with alittle cold and chest congestion so we had hoped to celebrate alittle more. Oh well, we'll have many more months to celebrate. Jae-min has changed so much in just a month its mind boggling. He's doing SO much more developmentally which makes all of our hard work worthwhile. He's also changing physically with more hair, two teeth, and some extra pounds!! He looks so different from when we met him in Korea.
All in all we had a great one month anniversary. Happy easter to everyone and here's hoping little Jae-min feels better soon.

We Met The Easter Bunny!!!!

This past weekend we took Jae-min to meet the Easter Bunny and it was a success!!!! He did well and was so cute looking up at this BIG rabbit, then looking to us for approval. We snapped some pictures and the meeting was done. Whala first encounter with the big bunny, check. Now we can't wait for his first encounter with the big man in red!!!
We also went to church for the first time this weekend and the priest was thrilled to see us. He gave Jae-min alittle blessing and then welcomed him in front of the congregation at the end of the service. It was an awesome moment, as everyone started clapping and congratulating us. We felt so supported and Jae-min did awesome, cooing and smiling at everyone. He was definately a hit!!!
We're still working on sleep as this omma and appa are in a fog most days still. Some day we'll get it, someday. Keep us in your thoughts at 11,1,2.3.4 am that we make it to the sun comes up. He's just fussing and we think he has gas. We contacted the doctor and they think we're doing everything right, so all we need is time. We have plenty of that, don't we?
So, church check, Easter bunny, check Sleep not so much!!!! Maybe that big bunny can bring Jae-min sweet dreams for Easter.

We Graduated!!!!

Last night we attended our last waiting family meeting as a family of THREE!!! It's a tradition when you come home to attend your last meeting as a family and we had a great time. Everyone was so excited to see us and there was alot of great news all around. The mood of the meeting was so uplifting and it was just what I needed as I've begun to go a little stir crazy staying close to home. We also got to meet up with our friends who traveled the week before us to bring their daughter home and we got to see their sweet little Allie. Jae-min and Allie loved each other and it was so adorable to watch them together. It was almost like they knew each other in Korea. She and I have been talking almost daily and offering each other support so it was fun to share this with them. Another family bought a cake to welcome home Allie and Jae-min. All in all it was an awesome night!!!
We're going to miss these "friends"and wish we could continue to share in their exciting news. We have many of their emails though, so hope to keep in touch. The facilitator hugged us and told us she'd see us soon for baby number two.........we'll see about that!!!!
