Easter 2006

Today is the day that I shared my dreams and hopes with Joe to someday adopt. Through my work at Early Intervention I had been working with children and families who had adopted internationally and everything was going so well, the children were so well adjusted, and I began to feel in my heart that this is the way I wanted to have our family.
Joe was alittle surprised but said he'd think about it!!! Yeah. We talked about two countries we felt comfortable with Korea and China. During this year we had many discussions and I continued to hold out hope that Joe's heart would catch up with mine (I had no doubt that it would)

December 26, 2006

Merry Christmas!!! I got a special gift this Christmas, a Panda bear and a journey necklace. I asked Joe what these meant and he was still playing hard to get. He told me the necklace was a symbol for the journey we were about to take and he giggled at the Panda bear. No concrete answers came out of his mouth so I just moved along. I know he has to be 100% ready to take this huge leap of faith and he needs to be the one that says lets go. So, I continue to wait and see what happens. When something feels so right, I totally have faith that it will all work out in the end.

January 2007

I got an amazing call one Tuesday afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in my car driving to an assessment and Joe called and said "lets make that call" I didn't know if I had heard him right. I began shaking and couldn't believe my ears. We decided we'd talk more at home. I then had to do an assessment with this amazing news. On my way home I called M (who is adopting from China and works with me) and told her about the call. She was ecstatic (we had been at the assess. together)
When I got home Joe greeted me at the door. We started laughing and of course I started crying. THIS WAS IT!!!!! We decided to call CAWLI and get the process started to adopt a baby girl from China. Here we come.

May 2007

This month was exciting and busy too. We went on a cruise at the beginning of the month which was so much fun. We hadn't been before and I was a little nervous, but we had a blast. The weather was beautiful and the islands were great. It was much needed and deserved.
On our cruise, in the Cayman Islands, I found a ladybug bracelet. We had been looking for something I wanted to wear after we are officially LID and will remove after our baby is home. This was just perfect. A souvenoir from our first cruise and a special waiting bracelet all rolled into one. Couldn't be more perfect!!!!!
Oh and the most exciting news happened this month. We got our DTC of 5/21/07 and our LID of 5/25/07. Yahoo its official we are logged in and now have our spot in line.

April 2007

Busy, busy, busy is how we would describe us lately. We think we have all of our documents together and they will be authenticized by our agency and then sent to China.
We have shared the news with all of our family and friends by now. We would shout it from the rooftops if anyone would listen. We are over the moon with excitement and many people have shared in this excitement. Our agency is saying 18 months till referral so we think by Christmas 2008 we will see our babies face. Let the time go quickly and let everything work out in the end.

March 2007

We've begun paperchasing and getting all of our documents together. We have met Freea and we were right, she's super nice. This month we let the secret out of the bag. We told our parents first at dinner at our house. We were so nervous and the plan was to tell them between dinner and dessert. Well, dessert came and went and we didn't do it. So, after dinner we were sitting around and I couldn't take it anymore. This had to be it. I turned off the radio and made our big announcement. There were tears, shouts of WhooHoo, questions, and so many smiles. We had bought champagne for the occasion so we popped the cork, toasted, and celebrated. It truly was a magical moment. We also shared that we intended to name her Ava Rose.
This was a whirlwind month. We were busy and on cloud nine. Was this real? Could we actually be close to having our dreams come true?

February 2007

We have been assigned a social worker. Her name is Freea and we will meet with her in March. She's super nice and not intimidating at all (thats good). So far this continues to be our little secret!!! It's actually kind of fun keeping it to just the two of us. Soon enough we'll have to share the news, but for now its nice to hold her quietly in our hearts.

January 2007

Joe called CAWLI the next day and we signed up for an info meeting. The meeting went well and we quickly got the ball rolling.
We had an intake meeting shortly after, explaining the process. We were soo happy and at this time no one knew of our exciting news. It was so much fun keeping it to ourselves!!! Shh we have a secret.
